I am about to complete my PhD research in structural health monitoring of marine structures at Department of Ocean Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. My academic qualifications include applied electronics and instrumentation at bachelor level and ocean engineering in post graduate level.
I hold two years of academic research experience as part of my Master of Technology thesis and seven years of experience as part of my PhD program at IIT Madras. My notable research skills include finite element analysis using ATILA and ABAQUS FEA packages respectively and coding using Mat Lab for data analysis. In addition, I also have 3 years of managerial experience in controlling the operations of a leading education institute.
In addition to skills acquired for my academic research, I have also learned Python coding as a beginner level and have used libraries such as Numpy, SciPy and Matplotlib. Apart from my regular research work, I have networked with fellow research scholars and project officers who work in my lab, through which I have had basic exposure to CFD analysis. I can assure that I am a quick learner, who is ready to take up additional third party training and certifications to meet the job requirements.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of my academic career, I have extensive knowledge in electrical engineering, power electronics and systems, measurement technologies and instrumentation, and ocean engineering. A person with good knowledge about multiple technologies can do very well in dealing with installation procedures, technical dossiers, equipment and materials mobilizations, and subcontractor management. It is my strong conviction that my inter-disciplinary learning in applied electronics, instrumentation and ocean engineering, along with my managerial experience as well as research experience at IIT Madras and National Institute of Ocean Technology makes me an ideal candidate for this job position. I am also one of the founding members of the Disaster Management Committee and the Sustainability Network at IIT Madras. I am aware of the sustainability and safety aspects of project execution. I am also aware that the job of a field engineers involves improvising quick and practical solutions to problems at the field, in addition to making elaborate plans and following well defined protocols for a project execution . I am sure I would play an active role in finding solutions to problems assigned to me, working across the groups and reading through the theories and manuals to find the best solutions.
